Recent community information sessions
Thank you to those who attended our recent Community Information Sessions in July, and for your questions and sharing your thoughts with us.
The sessions were an important opportunity for us to be able the community to review and discuss the updated project design, as well as introducing the project’s proposed transmission line and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

The proposed Whyte Yarcowie Wind Farm is located east, and south of the Whyte Yarcowie township and 190 km north of Adelaide in the northern Mount Lofty ranges of South Australia. The area is predominantly cleared land, used for livestock and farming.
Wind Prospect is progressing environmental and planning approvals for the development of a wind farm with up to 47 wind turbines near Whyte Yarcowie. The project site has been chosen due to its high wind resource and location near existing transmission infrastructure.
Following reciept of community and government submissions on the project’s Renewable Energy Infrastructure Licence (REIL) application under the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023, the project team have been busy reviewing and refining the project design.
The updated project design will be submitted with our submission responses and updated project REIL documentation later in 2026, and will be available for review at our upcoming community information sessions, and online in the near future.
Wind Prospect see the development of a windfarm as collaborative process between developers, landholders, local communities, Aboriginal custodians, technicians, data analysts, engineers, biologists, sociologists, local and state government, elected members, administrators and planners, manufacturers, small business and volunteers. It is a long journey from concept to reality and there is a rigorous process that all proposals must be tested against.
Wind Prospect has been developing renewable energy projects in Australia since 2000. We have achieved planning approval for 22 wind farms and two solar farms, totalling more than 2,500 megawatts of electricity generating capacity.
