We are currently working through the submissions that were received on our the Renewable Energy Infrastructure Licence (REIL) application for the Whyte Yarcowie Wind Farm.
The REIL application has been prepared under the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023 to assess the environmental impacts of the proposed project, and the statement of environmental objectives (SEO) provides transparency about the licensee’s required environmental performance.
Following the project’s response to the community and government agency submissions, the Minister for Energy will decide whether to grant the project a Licence, as well as any conditions which apply to the granting of a Licence.
Upcoming community drop-in sessions
Community information sessions have been scheduled for July 15 and 16 to provide the community with a project update and introduce the proposed wind farm transmission line and BESS.
Invitations will be posted to our project neighbours and those on our mailing list, event details will also be available on our website in the coming weeks.
Success for Whyte Yarcowie WF Under Latest Capacity Investment Scheme Tender
We welcome the announcement from the Hon Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Climate Change and Energy and the Hon Josh Wilson MP, Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, that the proposed Whyte Yarcowie Wind Farm has been successful in the Australian Commonwealth Government’s Tender 7 of the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS).
The CIS is a critical milestone for the Whyte Yarcowie project taking it a step closer to fruition in the competitive South Australian energy market.
Subject to obtaining relevant licencing and environmental approvals, when operational the project will support the local community through a community benefit sharing package and create hundreds of full-time equivalent jobs during construction as well as ongoing local employment.
Wind Prospect Managing Director Ben Purcell said the CIS Agreement was a significant milestone for the Whyte Yarcowie Wind Farm, crediting the Wind Prospect and EDF Australia teams for their work in reaching this point. “It gets us closer to delivering real benefits for South Australia’s economy and its energy future,” he said.
